'One Pound Fish' singer Shahid Nazir gets rousing welcome at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, after returning from United Kingdom on Thursday. The 31-year-old 'One Pound Fish' man, hailing from Pattoki, near Lahore was greeted by a large crowd.

While talking to newsmen, Shahid expressed his gratitude to the people of Pakistan for their appreciation of his work and according him a warm welcome. While contradicting the news reports (published in British newspapers) that he was deported from the UK, he clarified that he has a valid British visa and he was on a two-week visit to Pakistan. "I have to come to Pakistan to apply for a French visa, so that he could visit the country for the release of his song," he added.

The Pakistani-fishmonger shot to fame in the UK for his song 'One Pound Fish', which became an instant hit after it was uploaded on Youtube. Following its success, Shahid signed a record deal with a major music label, Warner Music Group. Shahid's video song attracted more than 3 million hits on Youtube.

The father of four children moved to the UK just over a year ago on student visa and found a job at a fish stall. It was reported in the British press that his boss asked him to shout in order to attract customers' attention. He said he did not like shouting, and hence made up a song, 'have-a, have-a look, one pound fish, very, very good, very, very cheap, one pound fish'.
